About
VDYA is a design practice that explores how existing architectural typologies can be adapted to accommodate the everchanging social demographics of contemporary cities.
Influenced by the everyday practices of diasporic communities, our designs take into consideration how the cross-pollination of multiple cultures allows for the creation of ‘other’ architectures and encouraging new ways of living.
We believe that vivid dreams yield agency for the lesser known and seen.
VDYA is directed by Vidhya Pushpanathan. She has previously worked on Battersea Power Station, The Gasholder Triplets in King’s Cross and Worthing’s Leisure Centre. Her work has been exhibited and published in London, Miami and Moscow. She judged the 2013 Royal Institute of British Architects President’s Medals. She currently runs a design studio at the Architectural Association and teaches at the Royal College of art.
